Monitoring Bounded LTL Properties Using Interval Analysis

چکیده
Verification of temporal logic properties plays a crucial role in proving the desired behaviors of hybrid systems. In this paper, we propose an interval method for verifying the properties described by a bounded linear temporal logic. We relax the problem to allow outputting an inconclusive result when verification process cannot succeed with a prescribed precision, and present an efficient and rigorous monitoring algorithm that demonstrates that the problem is decidable. This algorithm performs a forward simulation of a hybrid automaton, detects a set of time intervals in which the atomic propositions hold, and validates the property by propagating the time intervals. A continuous state at a certain time computed in each step is enclosed by an interval vector that is proven to contain a unique solution. In the experiments, we show that the proposed method provides a useful tool for formal analysis of nonlinear and complex hybrid systems.

Monitoring Execution Traces using Metric Alternating Automata
We present an automata based verification framework to monitor a running system against a high level specification. Our framework includes specification formalisms to express system properties and verification algorithms to check an execution trace of a system against the intended behavior. Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) is a widely used specification language to express temporal properties of a s...
متن کاملModel Checking LTL Properties over C Programs with Bounded Traces
Context-bounded model checking has been used successfully to verify safety properties in multi-threaded systems automatically, even if they are implemented in low-level programming languages such as C. In this paper, we describe and experiment with an approach to extend context-bounded software model checking to safety and liveness properties expressed in linear-time temporal logic (LTL). Our a...
متن کاملOnline Monitoring of Metric Temporal Logic
Current approaches to monitoring real-time properties suffer either from unbounded space requirements or lack of expressiveness. In this paper, we adapt a separation technique enabling us to rewrite arbitrary MTL formulas into LTL formulas over a set of atoms comprising bounded MTL formulas. As a result, we obtain the first trace-length independent online monitoring procedure for full MTL.

متن کاملAutomata-theoretic and bounded model checking for linear temporal logic
In this work we study methods for model checking the temporal logic LTL. The focus is on the automata-theoretic approach to model checking and bounded model checking. We begin by examining automata-theoretic methods to model check LTL safety properties. The model checking problem can be reduced to checking whether the language of a finite state automaton on finite words is empty. We describe an...
